Issues in Aging: The Problem of Hoarding

Senior Issues and the Hoarding Problems

We all have or had family that have reached their golden years. However, with these golden years comes not being able to move as quickly or do as much as they were able to in the past.  As a consequence they cannot keep up with the average household cleanliness and organizational facets of their lives. That is why were here to help you in those times of need. When the time comes to it our staff here are equipped to help senior citizens with addressing their messes and help them organizing their lives. This allows them to think more clearly and lets them live a fuller life, which brings happiness to themselves, but their friends and family. Now  we need to decide where to begin.

Many of these items that need to be organized are personal effects that our senior citizens have and they may have a personal attachment to them. Before we start sorting trash and items of value to our client, we make sure that our clients understand that we are allowing them to make a choice on the item. These items might be associated with a loved one that they lost and we are careful not to upset them over these types of situations. Also, though we encourage our clients to disseminate the junk from the real treasures of their lives.

The junk that senior citizens tend to accumulate over time are not necessarily items of value or personal significance, but something they cannot see throwing away. Many of our senior citizens grew up in an era where seeing throwing away anything is being wasteful, however this originally useful habitat can often times be translated to saving useless or throwaway items. Examples of this could be used paper plates, plastic cutlery, balloons,  broken pieces of furniture, and obsolete technology. Our staff can convey to these individuals that not everything is salvageable and can be useful again. Once our staff has passed this message onto them they can now start organizing their belongings.

The average senior citizen often has a health issue that does not have the capabilities that they once had and we are here to help them get that extra boost that they need . We will throw away the items they no longer want, and encourage them to give the items that they do not want but are useful to charity. We are here to help them because their mess is our mess and our job is addressing it.

Address Our Mess has staff who specialize with senior clutter and hoarding removal, call us for more information on our hoarding or clutter cleanup for seniors or senior downsizing services.
