Cleaning After Severe Organizing and Sorting

Cleaning after severe organizing and sorting

Many relatives and friends are shocked and surprised when they see their loved one’s homes that have become nothing less than a large junk pile of stuff. The pile is not isolated in just one area of the room, but in many situations fills every room in the house. Relatives and friends are also informed that this living condition has been like this for years if not decades.

Now not every situation is the same and some situations are more or less extreme than others. Some severe organizing and sorting situations are just a major pile of items consisting of papers, bills and items purchased but never thrown away over the years. Other situations are more severe including old food, rat and mice feces, and dead animals. What ever the situation is, organizing and especially removing the unnecessary items are of major importance. But what about the mess left behind after all the stuff has been moved. Years and years of dust, rats and mice feces and old rotted food still remains. Bathrooms and kitchens are caked and stained with years of neglect and lack of use.

Below are cleaning descriptions of rooms after all the debris and unwanted items have been removed after a severe organizational and sorting situation.

Bathrooms- Bathrooms are usually the neediest areas for cleaning in a severe organizational and sorting situation. Sadly these areas are used until they have mechanical issues such as a toilet back up or backed up drain. Although most people would hire a plumber, these folks are too ashamed to call anyone into their homes due to the mess and clutter. The result is that the problems are not fixed and the person living in the situation uses the bathroom until it becomes impossible to do so. Any feces, urine and mold will stay in the bathroom until the day of cleaning. This situation involves a higher level of cleaning possibly requiring that the cleaning staff be certified in bio hazard clean up.

Kitchens- As in bathrooms, kitchens end up in a non use state over time. Stoves, ovens and refrigerators breakdown over the years and become useless. The occupant now uses the kitchen as an eating area only. As the average condition with most severe organizational and sorting occupants, not only do they not throw away things, they also do not throw away food and clean up stains and food drippings. The cleaner has a major challenge in cleaning up the kitchen as animals, rats and mice have used the kitchen as their homes. In addition food stains and old caked on food creates a major cleaning challenge.

Living spaces- Living rooms and bedrooms are usually a surprise to the relative and friend of the severe organizational and sorting affected person. Once all unnecessary items are removed, major amounts of dust and mold are found in these rooms. Also found are years worth of old food, due to the the fact the occupant used these rooms for eating due to the kitchen being unfit to use. The old food again attracts mice and rats leaving disease ridden feces on everything.

Cleaning after severe organizing and sorting situations takes strong will and a cleaner who has a certification in bio hazard clean up. Remember the legal issues that may arise when cleaning after an organizing and sorting; as diseases and sharp objects may be found.
